Brilliance Vs Profitability

As I write this, I have 1,267 new customers. Notice I didn’t say
customers, but new customers.

Am I surprised?

Yes and No. And hopefully this is a lesson for you.

I often have ideas. Some of them are brilliant. Some of them are
plain stupid. Does that mean that the brilliant ones will be
successful and the stupid ones will fail? Well, no. Some ideas are
just more marketable than others.

You want to hear one of my more brilliant ideas?

Alright, but I would ask that you don’t tell anyone please.
Seriously. As it is on my list to create it soon.

So here we go…

You know when you go to a thank you page and sometimes there are
recommended resources?

Well how about having a central place where you can update those
links that show on all of your thank you pages from one central
location. I have over one hundred websites with thank you pages. It
would not only be a life-saver, but also increase profits
remarkably if I was able to control exactly what was shown on each
of those thank you pages from one central location. It would also
mean that all of the offers that show on those pages would be
up-to-date. In my opinion if this tool was created, it would be a
brilliant tool and would make money for a lot of people. But would
it be profitable to sell? Probably not.

Why?

Because this is not the kind of thing that people are prepared to
spend money on. It is not sexy, or instant or ’secret’.

Will I develop it anyway?

Yes I will, because it will be of benefit both to me and also to a
lot of other marketers.

Emergency Cash Plans has been my most successful project to date.
Part of its appeal is that it is a solution to creating cash from
thin air whenever you are at a need. Another appeal is that the
ideas are realistic and can work for anyone at almost any level
wherever in the world you are. I am working my way through some of
the testimonials and am totally humbled.

So, I have outlined two projects.

Which do you think is a better idea?
Which do you think would be more successful if they were pitted
against each other?
Do you think that it is wrong to prioritize a project based on its
profitability?
Do you have an idea for a project which you are willing to share
with the world?

Please comment below…

Best Wishes,

Ben Shaffer

Mmm, I still tend to go for the projects that are more fun/interesting/involve travel to new places. Profitability should come in there somewhere. But life’s too short to make it number one?

(So that’s why I drive a 2nd-hand Land Rover and not a brand new Porsche…)

The phrase”find a need and fill it” holds true whether the business is Internet Marketing or brick and mortar. How many brilliant ideas when nutured properly don’t result in profitability? Yes the size of the market may vary….still it’s almost uncanny how brilliance and profitability can come together for mind-boggling success.

I like the first idea. There is nothing wrong with prioritizing a project based on profitability - why else are we all here.

If the first idea takes shape I would be very interested.
