Introducing…
I want to start introducing more onto my blog on what I do on a daily basis outside of the IM to IM niche. I actually control quite a few large sites, and thought that it would be useful to show and tell you how I improve my profits. This therefore is a very practical thing as opposed to a theoretical set of posts.
I have a site in the MySpace niche which receives several thousand visitors a day. I will probably speak about this site quite a bit on this blog as at the moment it is taking up quite a bit of my time. The problem is that although the traffic is reasonably high, I am only making about $10-$15 a day with it. In my opinion it can easily be monetized up to around $100. At the moment, that revenue is coming exclusively from Adsense, which is not necessary the best way to monetize it. Therefore I am trying some other methods to see what works.
Last week I threw a squeezepage hover onto the site. Really just to see what would happen. I put the option to give me their email address and then they would receive a free ebook on how to make money with MySpace. The conversion rate was really really bad of less than half a percent. I think put it on the page and it decreased to 0.4%.
I then changed the wording and split-test three different forms including the original and found that the conversion was:
0.4%
2.4%
3.6%
The 2.4% squeeze was about keeping the site alive.
The 3.6% squeeze was about becoming a member.
What I have now done is to create a new split-test with the winner changing the submit button.
What surprised me is how low the converstion ratio is in this niche compared to other squeeze pages that I create.
