I was making 200-300 calls a day hoping that one of
them would convert to a sale which would bring me in
around $2-3000. When one came in, it was great, but
I would go for weeks on end with no activity and in
one case I actually went for months with no sales at
all.

The problem when you have a slump, is that it is
extremely difficult to get out of it. The reason
being that your confidence becomes mashed and you
find it hard to remember what it was that made you
seem like Golden-Mouth when you were doing well.

But some of the lessons I learnt were:

1. Always smile when you are on the phone.

It’s something that I also learnt from the Dale Carnegie
course. Trust me, it makes a massive difference. But
not only when you are selling. Even when you are
speaking to a friend of family member on the phone.
It creates incredible results.

2. Always Be Closing.

Or…ABC for short. Whenever you are doing in anything
to ultimately make a sale, you should always be thinking
about the direction that you are going in and how you
can best close that sale. There is a wonderful line
in a film called Boiler Room. The main character is
trying to sell shares and equities on the phone. His
manager tells him that he should see every call as a
challenge or a battle. Only one person is going to win
and it can either be him or the person on the other end.
If you want to win in life, then you need to make sure
that you are better than the other person.

This could be a boss, a customer or even a friend.
Obviously, in personal relationships, you should be
careful about thinking this way as there is supposed
to be a feeling of love there which may be obstructed
by this.

3. Never give up

Or as David Vallieres says “Succeed Through Failure”.
If you look as life as one great puzzle where you can
only succeed through learning from failures, then life
suddenly becomes far easier to handle.

I have had great set-backs in life to the point where
I have literally wanted to throw everything in and run
off to a desert island. But I haven’t and today I like
to think that I enjoy a high amount of success.

Marketing on the internet is like a journey to me. Some
things explode beyond reason whereas other thing fail
also for no explicable reason.

You can have the perfect plan, but at the end of the day
it is whether the marketplace also things that it is the
perfect plan that will make the difference.

1. If you purchased Virtual Smart Assistant a few months ago
and didn’t install it, then you should really give it a go. It
has made me a lot of money. If you did install it, then go and
take a look at the results and change your messages or test
different things. This is one powerful tool.

2. If you are having a problem with spam then download Spamfighter.
I use it and approximate that it saves me hours every day. There is
a free 30 day trial. The way I use it is to spend about 5 minutes
going through the spam queue. As I have been using it for a while
and it learns from my actions it is rare that I find a false positive
message that is in the spam box.

3. While on the subject of email, if you are like me and are reasonably
addicted to checking your email, then open up your email on a seperate
monitor so it is there the whole time, but you don’t have to keep
up swapping between applications. I personally forward all of my
email to a gmail account so that it is updated live.

4. If you find that you don’t have enough time in the day, then you
should install a program called Rescue Time. It is 100% free and
logs exactly where you are spending your time while at your
computer. After a few weeks, you will know where to focus your
energy so that you are only working on revenue generating
activities while you are meant to be working.

5. If you have a website then make sure that you are tracking
exactly where your traffic is coming from and what they are doing
on your site. I personally use StatCounter which is extremely
easy to install and gives me all the information that I need
at pretty one glance.

6. If you are yet to launch a product, then do it. Seriously. What
is holding you back? If that is insurmountable, then outsource that
task.

7. If you are planning on selling a business then sell it when things
are going well.

8. Surround yourself with people that are successful and don’t leech
on your time

9. Read every book by Dan Kennedy that is available on Amazon. That
man is a genius and his books are cheap when you buy them in paperback.
